Welcome to the Kingston Injury Management Centre.  Our clinic was established in 1993 and provides comprehensive and evidence-based Physiotherapy services to Kingston and the surrounding community.  Our goal is to help you reduce pain, maximize health and improve physical function and performance.  Please read on to find out more about us.  Please contact us anytime if you have any questions.

WHAT IS PHYSIOTHERAPY?

Your family doctor or a friend probably told you that you need Physiotherapy, but do you actually know what a Physiotherapist does?  A Physiotherapist is a university trained health practitioner who is registered with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario.  They perform detailed physical assessments that may include evaluation of the joints, muscles, nerves and function of a individual.  Based on the assessment the therapist establishes treatment goals with the client.  Methods of treatment may include soft tissue release, mobilizations, modalities, exercise and education to name a few.

IS THERE ANY FUNDING FOR PHYSIOTHERAPY?
Depending on your situation there may be some funding.  Most employers offer extended health benefits that may cover all or part of your treatment.  In addition, if you are a veteran, were in a accident or were injured at work you may be eligible for funding.  Please see our funding section for more information.

What to expect your first visit.

Well, COVID is still around so we will screen you for symptoms when you arrive.  We also still requires a mask at our clinic.  You will intially complete a health questionaire outlining your general health.  The therapist will outline the purpose of the assessment and ask for your consent.  Following this they will take a detailed history of your issue and then perform the physical assessement.  After the assessment treatment goals will be developed and treatment methods will be established to achieve your goals.  Generally the assessments take one hour and follow-up visits are 30-50 minutes.  Assessments and treatments are 1:1 with a Physiotherapist.
